In 1995 I attended a quilt presentation at The Ohio Historical Center, which showcased the wonderful collection of historical quilts they have. During the presentation someone asked how the quilts were being stored. The answer given was folding the quilts with archival tissue paper placed along the folds and periodically refolding the quilts to change the crease lines.
The quilts we make are labors of love and the work that goes into creating a quilt should not be marred by permanent fold lines. The method The Ohio Historical Center was using to store quilts lead me to ask myself why we fold quilts to store them. The obvious answers were time, space and the ease of folding and adding the quilt to a stack in the corner. At that moment I decided to design a solution that not only stores quilts, but protects and preserves them when they are not in use so future generations will have the opportunity to enjoy them. The result is Sewforever Quilt Storage, a no-fold, archival quilt storage solution.
I have always admired the art of appliqué, but I found that standard methods are hard to master. I have taken a number of classes to learn various methods, but my results left a lot to be desired. These methods also included time consuming tasks that I did not see a need for, so I created Innovative Appliqué. The techniques I developed and the products I use lower the learning curve and increase productivity. Making appliqué more enjoyable for everyone.
I have been sewing since I was young. Quilting has become my favorite form of expression. There is always something new; new fabric, new thread, new tools, new products and new techniques.
Designing to make life better.
